POCO F7 Global Launch Confirmed — But There’s a Big Battery Surprise
Xiaomi’s own Mi code appears to have confirmed plans to launch the POCO F7 both in India and in global markets. However, there’s some bad news for international fans of the brand — the global variant of the device may come with a noticeably downgraded battery compared to its Indian counterpart.
As per the latest leak provided by insider @paperking13 on X (previously Twitter), Xiaomi plans to launch the POCO F7 toward the end of May. While Xiaomi has yet to make it official, the new leak strengthens the case for the phone almost being ready to launch in different regions.
That being said, not everything is good news. According to leaked internal code, the global POCO F7 will reportedly have a 6,500 mAh battery. The Indian and, by extension, Chinese versions will, however, have a much larger 7,550 mAh battery. This major disparity indicates that although the POCO F7 will have great battery life in India and China, global users may receive a less powerful device when it comes to longevity.
Interestingly, both the variants of the POCO F7 should have 90W fast charging support, which means even the smaller battery should charge in no time. However, for people who care about battery life and long usage, the difference between 6,500 mAh and 7,550 mAh might be a point of consideration while making a purchase.
This step by Xiaomi is not completely new. Earlier this year, the Xiaomi 15 series also debuted worldwide with smaller batteries than their Chinese counterparts. The POCO X7 Pro also took the same approach, entering global markets with a 6,000 mAh battery, while its Indian and Chinese counterparts had slightly higher capacities.
The POCO F7 is said to be a China-exclusive Redmi Turbo 4 Pro rebrand for international markets. If it’s true, consumers can anticipate robust specs specifically designed for the sub-premium market — potentially featuring a flagship-grade processor, AMOLED screen, and improved camera capabilities — although paired with a marginally weaker battery outside of India and China.
With an official announcement likely just around the corner, potential buyers, especially those outside of India, will want to keep a close eye on Xiaomi’s final specifications. While the POCO F7 still promises to deliver strong performance and fast charging, the battery downgrade could influence its overall appeal in the fiercely competitive mid-range smartphone market.
As ever, more information is set to be released in the coming weeks. Tune in for the full announcement and to see if Xiaomi has any tricks left in its hat.
